Wouldn’t It Be Great If In 2008
by Bill Delaune

This is the time of the year that you see those endless “2007 in Review” articles that remind you what a wonderful twelve months we just experienced in sports, politics, entertainment and taser technology.

But do you ever see a “2008 in Preview”  column? No, because any psychic worth his crystal balls is down in New Orleans scamming desperate Ohio State fans who are paying obnoxious fees to be told that they won’t have to play an SEC team for the BCS title in 2009.

But as a public service to you, my 7 faithful readers, I will reveal the revelations of an epiphany I encountered in the French Quarter following LSU’s dismantling of the bumbling Buckeyes that will give you the biggest stories of 2008 before they actually occur. For starters in January- USC football coach Pete Carroll leaves the Trojans to take the head job with the NFL’s Washington Redskins. Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban immediately applies for the Southern Cal opening saying that his good looks and charming attitude would make him a natural for Hollywood movies, and the starlets that come with them. The Tiger Diaries LSU-NANIMOUS
by Joey Fryoux

In August of 2007, we predicted that the LSU Fighting Tigers would twist and turn and power its way through a very challenging football schedule to become National Champions... for the second time in  five seasons. We laid out a case for the Bengal Tigers by simply listing its vast experience and multitude of game-breaking options on offense and its incredible depth of defensive superstars. Still, many scoffed at the idea that a school which had to wait 48 years between its first two national football crowns, which lost four starters to the first round of the NFL draft, including the #1 overall pick, could again claim the title so soon. But this group of Tigers, as we have reported all year long, have continually shown that the expectations and doubts and detractors only fueled their fire. In the end, nothing could or would deny them their entire list of pre-season goals including lifting the championship crystal ball in salute to its great fans and the wonderful people of Louisiana. Don't Fret The Guitar
by Joel Bourque

"Wa-hooooo!" That's Les Miles speech for Happy New Year!  Yes, 2008 finds LSU the undisputed champions of college football. I hope 2008 finds you all happy and healthy. This new year finds me a little older, a little wiser and sadly, a little balder. Being it's January, the beginning of the year, I thought now would be a good time to talk about music theory's beginning, the musical alphabet.

English is a language, written and spoken. A book is several chapters put together in a sequence. Chapters are a bunch of paragraphs, paragraphs are formed by sentences, sentences are made of words, words are made from letters, the letters come from the alphabet. Music is a language, written, heard and performed. An album(Do they even call it that anymore?) is made up of a group of songs. A song is a group of chords in a certain order. Chords are made from notes. And where do these notes come from? The musical alphabet. Here goes. More

Ensuring The Health Of Our Forests For Generations To Come

It’s an iconic image of Louisiana that ranks right up there with Mardi Gras, jazz and Cajun cooking: the majestic cypress stretching up out of the rich wetlands. In recent years, threats to the cypress population in Louisiana have received a lot of media attention causing many individuals to wonder - and perhaps worry about the future of the cypress trees. However one organization is sharply focused on the facts surrounding the health of Louisiana’s state tree and ensuring it’s here for future generations to enjoy.

Protecting Our Forests

The Louisiana Forestry Association (LFA) was established in 1947 with a mission to foster sustainable forestry practices, rebuild the state's cut-over lands and encourage a healthy forest industry. More than fifty years later, the LFA is a statewide, private nonprofit with more than 3,500 members, including mostly large and small landowners along with those working in forest-related industries. THOUGHTS FROM BULLY: There Was This Guy Who Wanted To Check My Rear End!

I am so fired up about LSU football. It was great watching the teams that we beat, through the regular season, have great success in the bowls.

I do want to tell you a story about my trip to Tennessee during the Christmas Holidays.

I was in Columbia, TN and had the need to change my oil and have a general check-up of my truck. It just so happened that these guys were enthusiastic at their job. They were working on 3 different cars at once shouting their every move to the foreman as if he were the boss on a chain gang. Lifting the hood here boss.  Taking the cap off boss. They were in sync and fun to watch. While they were working I noticed a couple of them whispering and glancing my way. I stood there and then walked around and noticed my reflection in the mirror. I figured out what these guys were looking at. There I was decked out in my purple and gold. LSU Tigers jersey, LSU Titleist golf hat. I had everything except my LSU Tiger underwear showing. It was then that I noticed they all had Tennessee Vols hats on so I took the opportunity to razz my fellow SEC compadres. I congratulated them on getting a bowl bid after the spanking they received from the LSU Tigers. I also thanked them for laying down so we could go to the BCS Championship Bowl Game. We couldn’t have done it without them. I did mention that we would have kicked Georgia’s butt also. More
